• Major Milestone in Dissemination and Communication Efforts.

September, 2024, Pamplona (Spain).

The BRAVƎ project, a groundbreaking initiative focused on cardiovascular diseases, has achieved a significant milestone in its dissemination and communication efforts. The project team has successfully engaged a wide range of audiences, including policymakers, academics, clinicians, researchers, industry leaders, patient association’s and the general public, to share key findings and foster greater understanding of their research.

Over the past almost five years, the project has launched a series of impactful initiatives aimed at translating complex research into accessible, actionable knowledge. These efforts have included hosting scientific conferences, webinars, workshops, outreach public events, publishing in high-profile journals, and creating user-friendly materials such as infographics, project leaflets, newsletter, reports, and video summaries to enhance public engagement.

Professor Felipe Prosper, coordinator of the project, noted, “Effective communication is at the “heart” of our research. It’s not enough to generate groundbreaking findings—we need to ensure that those findings reach and resonate with the right audiences. Our team has worked tirelessly to make our work not just available, but engaging and accessible to a broad community of stakeholders.”

Key achievements in the project’s dissemination efforts include:

  1. High-Impact Publications: The team has published more than 30 peer-reviewed papers in leading journals, contributing valuable knowledge to the field of computational modelling, biomaterials, bioengineering, cell therapy and cardiovascular disease.
  2. Scientific Community: The research team has actively engaged with other research and clinical groups with their participation in scientific events (more than 36 events), showing the most significant results obtained under the project.
  3. Public Outreach: Through a dedicated online presence, the project has launched a webpage (projectbrave.eu), an accessible video, and social media campaigns designed to communicate its key messages to a non-specialist audience. These efforts have reached over 30,000 people across multiple platforms, fostering wider awareness and sparking public conversation about the research’s broader implications, specially with patients associations.
  4. Collaboration with Industry: In partnership with industry partners, the team has shared their findings through targeted industry reports and collaborative workshops aimed at translating academic research into real-world applications.
  5. Press release: BRAVƎ strategic use of press releases, interviews and media partnerships has led to widespread coverage and significant visibility in national and international news outlets.

In addition to these formal dissemination channels, the team has prioritized the creation of open-access resources, ensuring that their research is freely available to the global community. The project has also developed a comprehensive website that serves as a hub for publications, news, event updates, and multimedia content.

Looking ahead, the team plans to expand its outreach efforts even further, with new initiatives planned for the coming months, including a major international conference, further policy briefings, and new educational tools aimed at students and educators.
